When a child has been neglected or injured due to child abuse, there are many scars. Some are seen. Other scars are hidden and are only felt in the heart.

The Face, Heart and Mind Foundation helps heal scars of all kinds, both the seen and the unseen. The Face, Heart and Mind Foundation was founded in 2001 by Henri P. Gaboriau, MD, and Jim Silsby, Director of Development for Boys and Girls Town of Missouri. Throughout their careers, Dr. Gaboriau and Jim Silsby had worked with many children and saw the consequences of
child abuse. Together they thought they could find a way that children would be helped. Initially, the foundation was named Heart 2 Heart. In 2007 The name was changed to reflect its true mission--The Foundation provides reconstructive plastic surgery and mental health counseling to children who ordinarily would not have access to the resources necessary for physical and psychological recovery.
